My daughter is an avid fan of the show "Little House on the Prairie" and this pattern perfectly captures the period with these wonderful dresses. Excellent resource for sewing your daughter her own prairie dress!
Made this for my 10-year old granddaughter who needed it as a portrayal of Laura Ingles Wilder. Runs large because it is a pattern for 10-12 year olds, so I had to shorten it quite a bit. Just keep in mind that the fabric requirements printed on the pattern reflect the largest size. Also, sewing was more complicated than I initially thought just looking at the pattern, but in the end, it all turned out well and my granddaughter is delighted with the look.
I remember when I was a kid my mom made me one of these dresses and hat
for our 89'ers day parade at school..It represented, the land run in Oklahoma.
Some of the schools still have the kids dress up, and turn their wagons into covered wagons for the parade, and land run., which is the school playground.
Soooo Im going to attempt to make a dress for my granddaughter to wear. Wish me luck.
It was easy and the size was just right for my granddaughter. Her Oregon Trail project is enhanced by wearing this dress.
